texas holdem 300x199 The history of Texas Hold’em gamesThe Texas Hold’em Poker (Hold’em in Italian translates as thienyl, referring to the cards) is the most popular variant of Poker classic and durable. The first matches were played in Robstown, Texas a city, region, mother of this particular game of cards. Today one of the most popular card games in the world, poker to Texas over the years became a full-on in the best Las Vegas casino with gamblers like Doyle Brunson, a name that did and still does the history of poker to Texas.
The only structure that originally gave the opportunity to play was the Nugget Casino in Las Vegas, which, because of its location and poor condition of the premises, was soon abandoned by professional players. These in 1969 were invited to play at the Dunes Casino, and given the inexperience of most of the players was a real advantage for the more experienced.

That same year Tom Moore inserted the first poker tournament ever in the second Gambling Fraternity Convention annual tournament that included several games, including Texas Hold’em. In 1970 Benny and Jack Binion acquired the rights to rename this tournament the WSOP (World Series of Poker) and moved all’Horseshoe Las Vegas casino owned by them.
After the first year, Tom Thackrey, a professional journalist, suggested to play the main event in the form of the No Limit Texas Hold’em. Since then the variant is played in the Main Event. This event, after seeing only 8 participants in 1972, had an exponential growth of participants and in 1982 surpassed the 100 entries, then doubled in 1991.
The exports to Europe of this type of poker was attributed to Terry Rogers and Liam Flood, two bookies that after undertaking a trip to Las Vegas to launch this game in our continent where later, in 2004, was established the EPT (European Poker Tour).

Important for the dissemination of this game worldwide, was the advent of online poker (first site dedicated to Texas Hold’em in 1998) and use the camera in the table for cards, the spectators were so able to see the cards of players and to monitor operations and tactics, making the game more exciting.

With regard to Italy the first site “authorized” to play online poker to Texas, after an initial phase of free trials that saw more than 14 million entries, was digital games, in operation for more than two years. Subsequently many poker sites are born in Italy to launch a real boom. An example of this boom is Pokerstars.it, which opened in June 2009 the largest number of live poker tournaments in Italy, namely the Italian Poker Tour (IPT).

According to a recent study in collaboration with the Italian Federation Poker Game, more than 15 million Italians between 14 and 64 years who played poker at least once. 70% of players are male. 95% said they played at home among family and friends small, but growing, percentage of players who go to clubs or the poker tables in casinos.
